Hey guys, Xiaomi recently launched their most affordable smartphones, the Redmi A5 and Poco C71, both priced at just around 1 million rupiah.

Yes, you’re getting a modern smartphone with ample storage space, a large screen and battery, and decent cameras.

However, the Poco and Redmi series often come as twins, where the specs aren’t that different, but you could save more money by choosing one model over the other.

This also applies to the Redmi A5 and Poco C71 — practically twins. The phones have similar designs and specs, but the Poco variant is about 100k–200k rupiah cheaper than the Redmi.

So, which one is more worth it?

Redmi A5 and Poco C71 Specifications

At a glance, they have similar designs and internals — and yes, upon closer inspection, they’re basically identical.

Both the Redmi A5 and Poco C71 are equipped with large 6.8-inch displays supporting a high refresh rate of 120Hz. You’ll notice the difference compared to conventional 60Hz when scrolling and doing daily tasks.

The cameras actually have decent resolutions. Both the Redmi A5 and Poco C71 use 32MP sensors, with an 8MP selfie camera housed in the top screen notch.

They’re powered by the same Unisoc T7250 chipset, with 4GB RAM (plus up to 4GB virtual RAM) and 128GB of storage.

Battery capacity is high at 5200mAh, and they can be charged via USB Type-C with up to 15W charging support.

Differences

Basically, both phones are twins in terms of looks and internals. According to most reviewers and the community, there are no significant differences when it comes to daily use.

If we consider branding, Redmi is generally positioned slightly above Poco. When Redmi and Poco share a twin model, any cutbacks usually appear in the following areas:

  • Software: Both run Android 15 Go Edition. However, Redmi might receive “goodies” or slightly better features in future updates compared to its twin, Poco.
  • Ads: Redmi phones usually have fewer ads compared to Poco variants, which is how Poco manages to keep the price significantly lower.
  • Camera: Interestingly, many in the community say that the camera results on the Redmi variant are better than Poco’s, despite having the same hardware.

So if there are no major differences, Poco offers the same experience — both hardware and software-wise — but lets you save around 100k–200k rupiah.

Price

Recently launched on popular Indonesian e-commerce sites, the Poco C71 was introduced with a promo price of just 999k. Meanwhile, the Redmi A5 is sold at Rp.1,199,000 with the same configuration: 4GB RAM / 128GB storage.

Who are the Redmi A5 and Poco C71 for? Clearly, for those planning to get a second phone, or as a gift for parents or kids (if they really need one).

The Redmi A5 is ideal if you want a solid phone with fewer ads while still keeping the price affordable.

The Poco C71 is perfect if you want to save as much as possible while getting the same performance as its twin, the Redmi A5 — saving up to 100k–200k!
